Construction manager Tony Bennett is planning to run 250 miles while holding a brick, a feat that will earn him a place in the Guiness Book of Records.

Most runners like to leave their work behind them when they set of for a lap or two the local park, but not so construction manager Tony Bennett. He is in training to beat the world record for the longest distance run – while carrying a brick in one hand.

Bennett, 26, is making things even harder for himself by making his 250-mile record attempt in Death Valley, California, where temperatures reach regularly reach 45 degrees. He hopes to raise £500,000 for Leukaemia Busters at Southampton General Hospital.
