Firecap CFS100 is a new range of recessed fan and vent sleeves designed to restore the fire ratings of ceilings penetrated by fans and ventilation ducts.
If a fire breaks out, the sleeve expands internally to block the gap in the fan or vent to which it is attached. Its manufacturer, Aico, says this creates an effective barrier against smoke and flames. The company also claims that, unlike other intumescent materials, the CFS100 requires no additional support as it will only expand inwards. The lightweight device is installed above or below the ceiling and can be retrofitted to existing fans and vents.
