Lindum is launching the Biodiverse Green Roof Mat, a pre-grown vegetative layer designed to offer an alternative to pure sedum blankets

Developed in conjunction with the department of landscape at the University of Sheffield, it consists of a mixture of drought-tolerant wildflowers, herbs, sedums and perennials that provide a habitat for bumblebees, butterflies, birds and invertebrates in an urban setting.

The mat requires a deeper substrate than a sedum roof, but provides an improvement in storm water attenuation which helps to reduce run-off and flooding as well as helping with building insulation. The mats are supplied ready to roll out with the plants already growing in a biodegradable felt made from recycled textiles.
