Passivent has developed a mixed-mode cooling system to help reduce energy use
Developed in conjunction with Mitsubishi Electric, the Passivent system combines natural ventilation and comfort cooling and can be installed in places where there may be high internal heat gains and high expected levels of comfort, such as offices and hospitals. A controller monitors internal temperatures and air quality; when they vary beyond preset levels the Mitsubishi air-conditioning unit restores the temperature and carbon dioxide levels. According to Pasivent, energy consumption over traditional mechanical ventilation is reduced by 41%.
