GDF Suez creates energy, m&e and fm giant

GDF Suez has created Cofely, to bring together its energy services activities in the UK and France. Cofely encompasses the former Cofathec and Elyo businesses.

Cofely builds on GDF Suez’s facilitates expansion in the growing market for operation & maintenance and energy solutions, where environmental efficiency is of paramount importance.

In the UK and France, the new Cofely name will replace Cofathec and Elyo with immediate effect, as the companies merge in each country. The new brand will gradually be adopted by the other energy services companies within the Energy Services business line, including Axima and GTI in Europe.

With this move, GDF Suez is enhancing its ability to offer expertise in energy and environmental performance, the production and distribution of local and renewable energies, and service integration through multi-technical services, whether in the fields of engineering, installations, or operations and maintenance.

More than half of the revenues from the Energy Services arm, which totalled 14 billion euros in 2008, will be generated under the Cofely brand name; through 35 000 employees working in more than 15 countries.

Cofely in the UK and Republic of Ireland has a turnover of £300 million, and employs 2700 people across 23 regional offices.
