US consultant AECOM has said it plans to make further acquisitions in Europe following its purchase of 600-strong QS Savant this week

Steve Hodkinson, the firm’s managing director of Buildings, Europe, said growth on the Continent was “very much on the agenda” and would “come from a combination of strategic acquisitions like Savant and organic growth”.

His comments come in the week that Faber Maunsell, AECOM’s UK subsidiary, dropped its name as the group attempts to style itself as a global brand.

Hodkinson said AECOM would try to use Savant’s presence in former Soviet states and eastern Europe to promote its technical services, including building engineering and environmental consultancy, in those regions.
