Aecom is in the final stages of appointing a chief executive of its European business to sit above UK and Ireland managing director Bill Hanway

According to sources close to the situation, an interview process has begun after a two-month search for the right candidate.

A source said: “They are looking for a real heavy hitter to pull together all the recent acquisitions, including Davis Langdon.”

According to another source the interviews are being conducted by Hanway and a handful of candidates have already been seen.

They said: “They want someone high profile who will act as the outward face of the company in Europe while Bill Hanway will concentrate more on internal matters.”
