Housebuilder reports “strong spring selling season”

Sales at housebuilder Bellway have risen 9% in the last four months on the same period last year, the firm said today.

In an interim management statement, the company said it was now achieving 111 sales per week from an average of 195 sites over the period.

The firm said the improvement in consumer confidence since the uncertain autumn selling period in 2010 had continued, resulting in a “a return towards a more normal reservation pattern with a healthy spring selling season.”

Bellway added it had now secured all of its forecast sales for the year to 31 July, along with 1,600 reservations for completion next year.

It has spent £220m on land since the start of the financial year, pushing its net debt up to £57m.
