Station ready for tunnel boring machines to break through
The platform level at Canary Wharf Crossrail station has been completed five months ahead of schedule.
The completion of the platform level, which is more than 250m long and 30m wide, is a major landmark in the progress of the £500m project.
Cliff Bryant, executive director of Canary Wharf Contractors, the main contractor on the project, said: “We are very proud to have played our part in a project which will benefit London for many generations to come.”
Work on the project is due to complete in 2015.
