Contract wins with Swindon Borough Council and Countrywide Assured highlighted at AGM

Outsourcing and professional services firm Capita has won £434m worth of contracts in the first four months of 2007.

The group will cover its progress in the first quarter of the year in its Annual General Meeting today and these project wins will be highlighted.

The group has won contracts with Swindon Borough Council, Countrywide Assured, the Department for Work and Pensions and Southampton City Council.

The group has also made six acquisitions since the beginning of the year for a total consideration of £62m. These takeovers include the acquisition of Harry Weeks, a business travel software company for £21m and CMGL for £32m.

Capita has reported that 2007 should continue to progress well with work in the pipeline particularly in the life and pensions and local government market.

The group had a healthy year in 2006. In its annual results for the year ended December 2006 it reported an 18 per cent rise in pre tax profit to £200m and a 21 per cent rise in turnover from £1.44bn in 2005 to £1.7bn.
