Sovereign Hospital Services will provide services in a deal worth £30m per year for 11 years.

Carillion has won a £330m facilities management contract at the £1.2bn Barts and Royal London PFI hospital.

The contractor's Sovereign Hospital Services will provide a host of soft services such as catering, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry and portering under a deal worth £30m per year for 11 years.

Other services under the contract, which covers the first period of the scheme's 42-year concession period, include receipt and distribution of goods, reception, security, telecommunications and transport.

Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: "We are delighted to be involved in the delivery of such essential services to Barts and The London NHS Trust which will manage the largest new hospital in the UK in the form of The Royal London as well as a Cancer and Cardiac Centre of Excellence at St Bartholomew's."
