Anne Hemming, a civil servant whose responsibilities covered the Building Regulations, has been killed in a cycling accident in Scotland.

Hemming died in hospital at the beginning of last week.

Hemming’s role was as head of the sustainable buildings division at the Department for Communities and Local Government, including overseeing the controversial roll out of Part L.

DCLG minister Baroness Andrews said Hemming was a valuable member of the team. Michael Ankers, chief executive of the Construction Products Association, said: “She was a highly effective, intelligent person.”
