Orders rise but commercial and non-housing public sectors stuttered compared to early Autumn figures

New construction orders rose 8% for the 12 months to November 2006, according to figures for the Department for Trade and Industry.

Orders in the three months to November 2006 rose by 2% compared to the same period last year.

However the DTI report showed orders in the three months to November 2006 falling by 8% compared to the previous three months.

The figures revealed that increases in public housing, private housing, infrastructure and private industrial orders had been offset by decreases in public non-housing and private commercial sectors.
