Bovis Lend Lease has won a £16m contract to construct a building for students at the Peninsula Medical School at the University of Plymouth. The scheme is designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley.
161-bedroom Essex hotel
Contractor Fitzpatrick has won a £3.7m contract from Scottish and Newcastle to build a 161-bedroom hotel in Thurrock, Essex.
Barbican refurbishment
The Barbican centre has picked a construction team led by project manager Citex to complete a £6m refurbishment of its main concert hall. The scheme is designed by architect Caruso St John.
Distribution depot planned
Birse Logistics has secured a £4.7m contract for a distribution facility for ProLogis Developments in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
Benson wins £22m contracts
Fit-out group Benson has secured contracts worth £22m over the past month. They include a £5.5m refurbishment contract of two office blocks for the Hospital Savings Association in Andover, Hampshire, and a £4m conversion of the Bournemouth offices of JP Morgan Chase.
Hackney Empire
Sunley Turriff Construction has won more than £20m of building contracts. They include the £11m refurbishment of the Hackney Empire Theatre and the £3m refurbishment of the K Annexe Royal Victoria Docks for Mount Bay Investments.
Jarvis Newman deal
Jarvis Newman has landed a £210,000 refurbishment contract for the HSBC bank building in Reigate, Surrey. Jarvis Newman is not an arm of Jarvis, as stated in Building last week (page 12). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Curzon Holdings.
