A 50-tonne crane crashed through a £1m luxury home in Kent

A 50-tonne crane crashed through the roof of a £1m luxury home that had just been completed in Broadstairs, Kent, on Friday.

The 50ft-long jib was lifting a container when it collapsed at 8am.

Kent police said the crane driver was treated at the scene for shock but was not injured. The house was empty at the time and no one was injured.

Building control officers were called out from Thanet district council and the Health and Safety Executive is looking into the incident.

Bedingfield Lifting, a crane hire firm in Canterbury, owns the vehicle.
