Labbad to be sole voice for construction on new council

The government has announced that Dan Labbad is to join the Green Economy Council.

The council, which had its first meeting last week, was established with a remit to help kick-start the UK’s green economy.

Dan Labbad is chief executive officer with EMEA, Lend Lease and chairman of the UK Green Building Council.

He is the sole property representative to be appointed to the Green Economy Council - which includes other high level figures from across the industrial sector.

The council will act as a platform for government and business to discuss how they can work together to support the transition to a low-carbon green economy.

The council will also bring together ministers from three key departments - namely the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Department for Environment , Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

Dan Labbad said he was pleased to be able to provide a voice for property and construction on the Green Economy Council.

“If we’re to be successful in greening our economy, buildings are going to be a significant part of the solution.

“Sustainability has become a buzzword in recent years, but it’s now time to get on and deliver.”
