Property developer Liberty Mercian submits plan to Ceredigon council to transform west Wales town.

Property developer Liberty Mercian has submitted a £50m masterplan to Ceredigon council to transform Cardigan, west Wales.

The proposals would create some 400 jobs and see the Bath Road area into a 35-acre development including a new hospital that they promise will modernise health care provision in the area. The plans also include a hotel, retail park and housing.

Emyr Williams, co-director at Liberty Mercian, said: “Our priority is to have a scheme that works for Cardigan as a whole, not just for today, but for many years to come.”

Liberty Mercian is a joint venture between Liberty Properties and Mercian Developments.

If the project gets the go ahead it is hoped work will start on site in 2006 and be completed by 2009.
