Edinburgh Forthside has been designed for 13,000 people and will include major mixed-use developments.

Scotland’s largest port operator, Forth Ports today launched master plans for Edinburgh’s new waterfront, one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects.

The recently-named Edinburgh Forthside comprises major mixed-use developments and will include a set of urban designs by UK practice Robert Adam Architects.

The new streetscape is designed to be pedestrian-friendly, and will sustain a community of around 13,000 people.

Richard Adam, chair of the master planning team said the development will use a ‘rich mix of styles, sizes, uses and materials’ to help maintain local identity.

The general public can view the current plans for the development at a public exhibition at The Forum, Ocean Terminal, Leith from 14-20 March 2005.
