Eleven firms have been invited to prequalify for a £70m contract to build accommodation for 600 soldiers at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, as well as garaging for army vehicles and mess facilities.

The Defence Estates contract is expected to be awarded late next year, with completion scheduled for late 2006. The project is part of the strategic defence review.
