Developer Essential Living unveils plans for its first office-to-residential rented housing scheme

Berkshire House

London-based developer Essential Living has unveiled designs for its first office-to-residential rented housing scheme in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

The plans, submitted last week to the council, would see Berkshire House, a 12-storey office building, transformed into residential tower with 68 units.

These would range from studio apartments to two-bedroom units specifically designed for the private rented sector. The scheme has been designed by ADZ Architects.

Essential Living, which has $200m (£128m) in backing from real estate investment and advisory firm M3 Capital Partners, is the UK’s first institutionally-backed company set up specifically to design, build and manage rented homes.
