A month after it won architecture’s highest accolade, the RIBA Stirling prize, the Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton is still making headlines.

The £36.5m Zaha Hadid-designed school’s victory produced a backlash in the architecture profession that has now been condemned by its project architect.

Lars Teichmann told Building that many of the critics had never visited the academy and admitted that the level of “bitterness” produced by its triumph had surprised him even more than beating the Olympic velodrome to the Stirling.
