The proposed £500m Crossrail station will include a shopping centre, restaurants and cafes

This is the latest image of the proposed £500m Crossrail station at Canary Wharf, designed by Foster and Partners.

If given the go-ahead, the Isle of Dogs station will jut out into the water and include a shopping centre, restaurants and cafes.

Plans include a public park and water features on the roof plus walkways to Poplar in the north and the Isle of Dogs in the south.

The £16bn Crossrail project, which is expected to open in 2011, will run from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
