Bowmer & Kirkland, Reds10, Kier Metek and Laing O’Rourke all given jobs
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation has allocated the first sites to construction partners to build new Single Living Accommodation (SLA) for the military.
Nearly 1,800 bedspaces for personnel will be constructed in the first phase of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)’s new programmatic approach.

Under the new method, members of a construction alliance, known as the SLA Alliance, will use a common design to construct the new buildings.
Four contractors have been allocated 10 schemes between them. The chosen contractors are Bowmer & Kirkland, Reds10, Kier Metek and Laing O’Rourke.
The SLA Alliance, which will run for six years, also includes Kier McAvoy.
The full programme, which is focused on modern methods of construction, will involve building 16,000 bedspaces by 2034.

Warren Webster, DIO programme director, said: ”The programmatic approach is already proving successful, with a number of projects under way and others allocated. Our new alliance is demonstrating excellent collaborative behaviours and focuses on continued improvement.
”Beyond that, we have plans for many more new SLA blocks at sites across the country, benefiting thousands of our service personnel for years to come.”
