Northern Irish contractor to build job in two phases by 2030

Graham has won one of its largest contracts to date with a £286m deal to build student accommodation at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The Cambridge Halls scheme is being developed by a joint venture between the university and student accommodation specialist Unite.

Work involves demolishing 1990s-era accommodation and replacing it with several buildings, including two towers of 30 and 24 storeys, and split into roughly two equal phases.

The scheme will be home to more than 2,000 students

Designed by Cartwright Pickard architects, the buildings will see just over 2,300 student bedrooms created. It will also include ground-floor commercial space and a community health centre.

The first phase of 1,100 beds will complete in 2029 with the second the following year.
