Application received nearly 900 letters of support
Architect KSS’s plans for an £800m expansion of Nottingham Forest’s stadium have been approved by Rushcliffe borough council.
The Premier League club has been planning an expansion of its 128-year-old City Ground home for several years with plans approved in 2025 to boost capacity from 30,000 to 35,000.
But larger proposals designed by KSS were submitted in January this year to take the number of seats up to 52,500.
A full planning application to redevelop the Trent End and rebuild the Peter Taylor Stand, which will increase the capacity to 45,000 seats, has now been approved.
The council has also signed off outline permission to redevelop the Brian Clough Strand, which will add a further 7,500 seats.
The two applications received a flood of supportive comments prior to approval, with the former application amassing some 882 comments of support against 19 objections.
The plans also include a new public plaza, a restaurant, conference and media spaces and back of house facilities.
KSS is lead architect and principal designer with the project team also include Gleeds as project manager and QS, Planit as landscape architect, Savills as planning consultant and Steer as transport consultant.
