Residential job being masterminded by Far East Consortium

HG Construction has won £225m worth of work on a residential towers scheme in Manchester for developer Far East Consortium.

The firm will build four blocks at FEC’s Red Bank scheme close to the city’s Victoria station.

FEC secured planning permission in August 2023 for 1,551 new homes across three plots known as NT02, NT03 and NT04.

HG will build 316 homes at a 34-storey scheme at NT02 and three more buildings at NT03 comprising 579 properties.

Enabling works at the site were completed over the summer by Bam for the city council.

Construction work on NT02 is due to begin immediately, with completion expected by 2029.

Construction of NT03 is expected to begin in early 2027 pending Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator. Plot NT03 features a 19-storey tower, a 30-storey tower and an eight-storey building.

Architect on NT02 and NT03 is Hawkins Brown with others working on the two plots including QS Arcadis, M&E engineer Futureserv and sustainability consultant WSP.

Maccreanor Lavington has designed NT04, which is around 27 storeys tall. No contractor has yet been appointed for this part of the work.
