The Nirah aquarium in Bedford, designed by Grimshaw, has been granted outline planning permission.

The aquarium, which will be four times larger than the Eden Project, will include a 130ft biome stretching the length of three football pitches. Glass tunnels will lead through freshwater habitats designed to replicate regions from the Amazon to the Great Rift valley.
