Industry has a four months to comment on Construction Design and Management Regulations, which are expected to be introduced from early 2006.

Health and Safety Commission has begun a four-month online consultation on its proposals to revise Construction Design and Management regulations.

HSC said the proposed revisions aim to focus on practical planning and management of construction projects and on providing a framework to encourage more cooperation and communication within a team. The draft CDM also includes a simplified assessment of organisations’ competence.

Bill Callaghan, Chair of HSC said: “These proposals reflect HSC’s and Construction Industry Advisory Committee’s commitment that revision of the CDM regulations should improve the management of risk and ensure responsibility is placed with those in the best position to influence or manage it.”
