Recipients include former Tideway boss Andy Mitchell who is given knighthood
Several industry figures have been recognized in the King’s Birthday Honours including a knighthood for former Tideway chief executive Andy Mitchell as well as awards for housing design champion David Birkbeck and architect Alison Brooks.
Mitchell was in charge of the £5bn Thames Tideway Tunnel project – dubbed the super sewar – before stepping down earlier this year.
Birkbeck, who was awarded an OBE, is chief executive of Design for Homes which since being set up in 2000 has campaigned for homes to be better designed and produced in greater volumes.
Brooks was also given an OBE along with fellow architects Tony Fretton and SOM sustainability director Mina Hasman. Peter St John, co-founder of practice Caruso St John, was given a CBE.
Willmott Dixon chairman Rick Willmott has been handed an OBE along with Steve Borley, group managing director of Welsh firm CMB Engineering.
The chief executive of Peabody and the former boss of the Regulator of social Housing are also among the recipients of honours.
Ian McDermott, who has led £1bn-turnover Peabody since 2021 following the merger with his former organisation Catalyst, has been awarded a CBE for services to social housing.
And Fiona MacGregor, who in April stepped down as chief executive of the Regulator of Social Housing after eight years, was also awarded a CBE for services to social housing.
