Fewer people are predicting a decrease in construction activity than at any other time in the past 14 months, according to Experian

The analyst’s monthly economic tracker, compiled for Building, indicates the sector is expecting construction work to continue to contract over the next three months, but at a slower rate than any point since April last year.

The activity indicator climbed to 43 in June, up two points since May and is expected to hit 44 in July. Below 50 indicates a decline.

But employment expectations worsened month on month for the first time this year, and the order book index is at its lowest point since October 1992, falling to 37 points.
