Three year contract to support UK operations at a Main Air Base

Interserve has secured a three year maintenance contract to support UK operations at a Main Air Base at an unspecified location in the Middle East.

Under the terms of the contract Interserve will have responsibility for a broad range of facilities including accommodation, offices, industrial hangers and taxiway.

The award comes as Coalition forces complete their second day of air strikes in Libya and will see the support services firm work in conjunction with a sister company based in the wider region.

Neil Dandy, international projects director with Interserve, said:“This is the first contract of its kind to be tendered in the Middle East.

“We have been able to use the knowledge gained in our live projects in Cyprus, the Falkland Islands and Ascension Island to take an intelligent approach to our service support offering.”

Lt Col Nick Inglis from the Ministry of Defence said: “Making a smooth transition to the new airbase is essential.

“After an involved tender process covering all aspects of the support services required, we recognised that the management experience of Interserve, with on-the-ground support from its sister company, was the best delivery option.”
