Marta Gajencka (below left), the vice president of the European Investment bank that this week agreed to lend Crossrail £1bn, is to speak at Building’s Global Infrastructure Forum

The event will highlight the growth in infrastructure investment around the world and how the sector will be shaped by the need to move to low-carbon technology.

Other speakers on the subject of where the funding will come from will include Spence Clunie, the senior managing director of Macquarie Capital Advisers and Edward Farquharson, project director of Partnerships UK, the body set up to improve PFI procurement. Mattias Ruete, the director-general of energy and transport of the European commission, will offer a European perspective to the discussions.

The event takes place in London on 5–6 November.
