Government commits funding for four stations after initial doubts

Four fire stations are to be built by a Kier-led consortium as part of a £40m PFI agreement in Gloucestershire.

The Blue 3 consortium of Kier, Reliance and Calderpool Carden Croft was named the preferred bidder in April.

Doubts about the future of the project surfaced recently as PFI agreements were re-examined under the government’s Comprehensive Spending Review.

The government has now agreed to help fund the projects with work due to start on four community fire stations and a life skills centre in Gloucester and Cheltenham.
