Laing O’Rourke is understood to have won the £200m Newham Building Schools for the Future scheme, beating off Skanska.

It is understood that Laing O’Rourke’s Newham Learning Partnership consortium, which also includes architect Scott Brownrigg and local construction firm Jerram Falkus, will be confirmed as winner next week.

The original shortlist also included the Miller Group, which was dropped from the shortlist in February.

The Newham BSF scheme includes four new-build schools and nine refurbishments.

A source close to the project said Laing O’Rourke would be in charge of the new-builds and Jerram Falkus would look after remodelling and refurbishment.
