Figures from Mott MacDonald, MHCLG and CABE also included in list
Mace boss Mark Reynolds is among a range of construction and built environment figures to be awarded gongs in the King’s New Year’s Honours list.
The group executive chair of the contractor, who is also co-chair of the Construction Leadership Council, was recognised with a CBE for his services to business and the construction industry.
Other built environment figures awarded the same honour included Catherine Francis, director of new towns, infrastructure and housing delivery at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, for public service.
Andrew McNaughton, executive director for infrastructure projects at AWE and a former advisor on HS2, was honoured for his services to national infrastructure, while Rupesh Mohan Mehta, until recently a director in the Department for Transport, was recognised for services to transport planning.
In architecture, Paul Finch, founder of the World Architecture Festival, and landscape architect Kim Wilkie, were handed CBEs.
OBE recipients included Anna Rose, head of the Planning Advisory Service, for public service; Dr Hywel Davies, head of technical insight at the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, for services to building safety and standards; and Dr Aderonke Matilda Savage, chief executive and founder of Jomas Associates, for services to young people, business and the construction industry.
Dan Cruickshank, an architectural historian and BBC presenter, was also awarded an OBE for service to architecture, alongside David John McDonald, chair of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, for services to the historic built environment and to charity
The directors and co-founders of Concrete Canvas Ltd, Peter Brewin and William Crawford, both received MBEs for services to engineering materials innovation.
University of Greater Manchester construction management professor Peter Farrell got an MBE for services to higher education and the construction industry, while William Desmond Scott, founder and chair Scott and Ewing Ltd and Woodvale Construction, received the same for services to construction in Northern Ireland.
Mott MacDonald’s global practice lead, Ruth Shilston, was similarly recognised for services to sustainable engineering.
Stephen Kelly, joint director of planning and economic development for the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service, also received an MBE for services to town planning.
