HSE investigation under way into fatal incident at Graham Construction housing development

A man died on an apartment construction site in south Belfast yesterday.

It is understood that a forklift truck was involved in the accident, which was reported at around midday, on the site of the old Ormeau bakery.

Developer Graham Construction said in a statement: “The company takes its obligations in relation to health and safety very seriously and will be co-operating with the various authorities to establish the cause of this incident.

“Obviously our thoughts are presently with the family of our employee and colleague fatally injured in this unfortunate tragic incident.”

The UK Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
