Contractor to build logistically-challenging boutique hotel

Camden Town Hall Annexe

McLaren Construction has won a deal to build a £20m boutique hotel in King’s Cross, London.

Designed by OMRS, work on the 270-bed luxury hotel will involve internal and external refurbishment of the Camden Town Hall Annexe together with the installation of three new floors.

The additional floors will be built in a steel frame box and placed on top of the existing building.

The project also poses a logistical challenge as it is situated on the main Euston Road, opposite St. Pancras International train station.

According to construction data company Barbour ABI, work is expected to start shortly and take around 18 months with completion in late 2017.

Commenting on his firm’s win, Phil Pringle, managing director of McLaren Construction, said: “This is the first contract McLaren Construction has secured with (client) Crosstree Real Estate Partners.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting project and look forward to increasing our position in the ‘high end’ hotel sector and bringing our expertise to deliver this quality boutique hotel.”
