Brick-maker says that sales since start of 2006 are higher than same period last year.

Brick-maker Michelmersh today said that it had sold more since the beginning of 2006 compared with the same period last year, bucking the industry trend.

At the company's annual general meeting today, chairman Eric Gadsden said: "We continue to experience strong demand and sales at our smaller specialist works."

He added that energy costs were still volatile, but despite this, industry product prices had not yet increased to recover these costs.

The company is working up a masterplan for the development of the 60 acres of residential land it holds in Telford.

Subject to shareholder approval at the AGM, Michelmersh will pay a dividend of 1.1p a share on 7 July.
