Jason Millett, the former head of Bovis Lend Lease UK, is to oversee the construction of Olympic venues on behalf of delivery partner CLM, writes Dan Stewart.

It has emerged that Millett joined Mace, which is part of the delivery partner CLM, three weeks ago, and was seconded to the consortium as head of venues.

This role means he will act on behalf of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to oversee the contractors on the handball arena, basketball arena and Eton Manor venues, among others.

Millett rose through the ranks of Bovis to become UK chief executive in 2005 when he was 38 years old, but left the company 18 months later after a controversial tenure. He was replaced by current chief executive Murray Coleman.

He then became deputy chief executive at developer Artisan, but left earlier this year while the £60m-turnover firm reviewed its in-house construction operations during the credit crunch.

He was expected to join Balfour Beatty Management but chose Mace instead. His brother Peter, who was head of construction at Artisan, now works for Shepherd.

CLM is the ODA’s delivery partner and is made up of Laing O’Rourke, Mace and CH2M Hill.

Meanwhile, the ODA said this week it has appointed Edmund Nuttall as landscape and public realm contractor for the northern end of the Olympic park.

The Royal Bam Group subsidiary will be responsible for procuring and managing specialists and suppliers to convert up to 40ha of industrial land into parkland, waterways and public spaces. The park has been landscaped by LDA Design and Hargreaves Associates.
