Holder Mathias' scheme is part of first phase in revitalisation programme for Bletchley area

An £18m leisure facility has been opened in Milton Keynes. The Bletchley Leisure Centre has been built on the same site as the previous facility and was opened on 9 January.

Commissioned by Milton Keynes council, the centre was designed by Holder Mathias Architects and built by SDC Builders.

The energy-efficient structure is part of the first phase in revitalising the Milton Keynes suburb of Bletchley, with new access roads, a multi-storey car park and up to 300 homes set to follow.

The project has undergone four years of consultation since receiving planning permission in September 2006. The council set up a design review process liaising with key stakeholders, English Heritage, Sport England and outside architects.
