Nick Prior was widely tipped to take on PFI role at Treasury but instead becomes senior corporate finance partner at finance giant

Nick Prior, the director of the Ministry of Defence’s private finance unit, is to join financial services giant Deloitte & Touche.

The highly-regarded Prior has been widely tipped to take over the PFI tsar role at the Treasury, following the end of Richard Abadie’s two-year secondment at the end of this year.

However, Prior is understood to have declined suggestions that he go for the job, having recently lost out for a higher role in the Treasury.

Prior’s own stint at the MoD is coming to an end as he has nearly completed a two-year secondment from the government’s PPP advisory body Partnerships UK. He will leave the MoD at the end of this month and join Deloiitte & Touche as senior corporate finance partner with responsibility for PPP in December. Early next year he will head up the team following the retirement of Mike Kerr.

Prior’s move is expected to be confirmed in a press release tomorrow.
