Scheme due to finish by spring 2028

Morgan Sindall has begun work on a £100m science and innovation scheme in Manchester called Plus Ultra Manchester.

The 217,000sq ft science and innovation building is set to complete by spring 2028 and is being developed by life sciences specialist Kadans Science Partner.

Designed by Sheppard Robson, the job is being built in the city’s Knowledge Quarter and is one of the anchor projects in the Upper Brook Street masterplan, a 490,000sq ft mixed-use scheme comprising lab space, 1,720 student accommodation units and community facilities.

As well as labs, the scheme will include office space and is expected to complete in spring 2028

Dutch firm Kadans, which is behind a new 23-storey life sciences tower going up at Canary Wharf, said the Manchester job “marks a significant expansion of Kadans’ UK portfolio and underlines its commitment to investing in the North’s innovation economy”.

Others working on the scheme include cost consultant G&T, project manager PSK, M&E consultant Wallace Whittle, principal designer Bureau Veritas and structures consultant HDR.

Cundall is fire consultant while landscape architect is Re-form.
