Construction claims consultant NBA Quantum has bought a multimedia firm specialising in film industry computer graphics.
NBA Quantum completed the confidential deal to buy Bionic Digital with its US owner in February. Bionic Digital has worked on Hollywood movies such as Aliens, Mission Impossible II and Black Hawk Down.

NBA Quantum chief executive Peter Elliott said Bionic Digital’s technology was being used in the company’s claim work. It has also been used in presentations for consortiums bidding for PFI projects.

Elliott said: “We wanted something that would stand up in court and be able to produce something utterly believable for the PFI bids. The quality in the market is not that high and clients like what we are doing.”

NBA Quantum has been involved in eight PFI bids. Six have been successful and two have yet to be announced.

Bionic Digital has offices at the Pinewood Studios in west London, and in Los Angeles and New York.

Elliot was speaking as NBA Quantum announced its results for the six months to 31 December 2001. Pre-tax profit rose 26% to £306,728 and turnover went up 22% to £1.57m.
