The bridge spans a live aircraft taxiway and is high enough for a Boeing 747 to pass underneath. The bridge, which will be used by more than 3 million passengers a year forms a key part of a £110m pier development at North Terminal. The project is part of a capital investment programme of more than £800m. Thirty-one firms were involved in the scheme, including architects Wilkinson Eyre and GMW, contractors Laing O’Rourke and Amec, engineer Arup and construction manager Mace.
