Full steam ahead for Richard Roger’s waterfront project.

Outline planning permission has been granted for Richard Rogers Partnership’s redevelopment of Convoys Wharf in Deptford, south-east London.

The proposed scheme for the brownfield site is a mixed-used development including 3500 homes, 35% of which will be affordable housing, a business park and leisure, retail and community facilities. It will include three tower blocks, of up to 40 storeys high. New bus services will link the Wharf to existing rail stations, and river bus will connect it with the Greenwich Waterfront Transit Scheme.

When complete, the project will open up a new section of Lewisham’s waterfront to the public, and will have the refurbished Olympia Warehouse, a grade-II listed building, as a centrepiece.

Mark Darbon, project director of RRP, said: “this is an important regeneration project and we are therefore extremely pleased about this decision.”
