Company says it is co-operating with British Transport Police over awarding a contract to refurbish Oxford Circus station

The British Transport Police are investigating allegations of fraud against Metronet.

The company announced this morning that they were “working closely with the British Transport Police” in their investigation into an £850,000 contract awarded to an allegedly unqualified firm.

The contract for refurbishment and fire alarm work at Oxford Circus underground station was tendered to Lanes Group Plc, a company specialising in drainage.

Media reports reveal that a former project director at Metronet had a close business relationship with one of Lanes’ board directors.
