Group says that Capita Symonds business has 'grown well' over first six months of year with key contracts secured

Multidisciplinary consultant Capita Group, parent company of Capita Symonds, has reported a 24% rise in pre-tax profits for the first half.

Capita Group profits rose to £92.4 for the six months to 30 June 2006, compared with £74.5m in the corresponding period last year. Turnover rose 23% to £845m across the same period.

In its interim results statement, the group said that its infrastructure and property consultancy Capita Symonds had “grown well” over the first six months of the year. Capita Symonds has secured a number of key contracts in the first half, including a project management deal for work on the BBC’s small to medium size construction projects.

The statement said that although Capita Symonds’ margins had been weakened by the company’s decision to exit its Dubai Rapid Link contract before schedule, it was expected that margins would recover in the second half.
