School's out: Scotland-based architect the Parr Partnership is part of the Ballast Innovate Consortium chosen for a £35m Scottish public–private partnership schools project. The contract involves the refurbishment of East Lothian's six secondary schools, including Preston Lodge High School (left) and the construction of two community centres. Two of the schools will include new-build elements. The project will start on site in June this year and is due for completion by early 2004. Contractor is Ballast, QS is Gardiner & Theobald, structural engineer is White Young Green, M&E engineer is Forth Electrical Services, and facilities management is by Gardiner & Theobald and Wiltshier FM.
