The project was inspired by a competition to design an Olympic aquatic centre for the London 2012 bid, which is planned for a site near Stratford station, and will form part of the Olympic Park. The design drawn up by the Eastlea School in Newham has support from the London Development Agency, Sport England and KSS Design Group and Unit 22 model makers.
