Cash boost to benefit 11 projects
A city deal between Swansea and the UK and Welsh governments has unlocked a £1.3bn pipeline of 11 major projects.
The cash includes £125m from the Welsh government, £116m from the UK government, £396m of other public sector money and £637m of private sector investment.
The projects to benefit include a £200m wellness and life sciences village in Llanelli, Swansea’s £169m Waterfront digital district and a £76m marine energy centre in Pembrokeshire.
Wales’ first minister Carwyn Jones said: “We have pushed long and hard for this city deal to be signed and have given it our strongest possible backing with £125m of Welsh Government investment.
“This is a package which will deliver jobs and economic growth for all of South West Wales, with clear benefits for all the areas involved.”
